Update: New Photos :-)
Caveat: Kristenne was working so she couldn't write this, so the writing may be sub par from normal...
So yesterday was the official revisit of Flint and Steel with three generations of the Clement clan. Unfortunately the only photo I took was of my fish so the other photos are from a previous trip until I get some current ones emailed to me.
Grandad was excited as it was his favorite spot from 1943 through to 1970ish and he got to the carpark with Dad, Ian and Kevin at about 8:05am instead of the scheduled 9am, so they headed down early and I had to catch up. We found "Clement Cave" otherwise known as the penthouse which had nice water views over the Hawkesbury and had a sunning area up on top. Remarkably he managed to stay up to 6 weeks in the cave at a time.
We wandered further down to the beach and found his beach cave for his long night fishing sessions but we weren't able to find a chiseled out rectangle of rock that was for fresh water. Further along the beach we found "the trough" which was the alternate supply of fresh water but the old kangaroo chiseled in the rock (presumably by aborigines) had vanished.
Finally we settled into some fishing and Kevin started off catching a Tailor and then a Bream (which was probably legal but fell back into the water, almost with Kevin) and a few others. Dad and Ian caught a few small fish; Grandad was too busy reminiscing to catch fish and so it was up to me to catch the only keeper which was a fan tailed Leather Jacket.
We headed to West Head and checked out the sights of the yachts racing around Lion Island and then headed home.
